Structural research methods which provide high-resolution imaging of drug candidates and drug targets are indispensable tools for the development of new medicinal products. The Core Facility for Crystallography and Biophysics will provide a high technology platform for comprehensive and interdisciplinary services to solve important research problems in this area. These will include methods of experimental chemistry and biology, structural analysis and theoretical approaches, with emphasis on X-ray crystallography. The Facility at the University of Warsaw Biological and Chemical Research Centre will assist the interdisciplinary community at both ends of the drug discovery process: the development of small molecule compounds as new drug candidates, as well as structural and functional characterization of their macromolecular targets. This way the Facility will provide an opportunity for both academic partners and industrial users to expand their potential in drug development.
