Development of the network of bicycle routes in Warsaw within the framework of ZIT WOF – stage II

The project is implemented within the framework of the ZIT WOF 2014-2020+ Strategy in Warsaw and has a direct impact on the promotion of low- and zero-emission transport in the Warsaw Functional Area and beyond its borders. The project includes the construction/reconstruction of 12.5 km long cycle paths and transport corridors in Warsaw’s network of bicycle routes. One of the planned paths will connect Warsaw with a bicycle route in the municipality of Jabłonna. In total, 20 paths will be built/upgraded, which will be linked to 47 points of contact with existing bicycle paths. The project will have a positive impact on reducing air pollution and noise emissions. The bicycle infrastructure, which connects places of residence and work, will make it possible to treat the bicycle as a full-fledged alternative to a passenger car. Locations are planned for implementation, which will pass through important interchange nodes (e.g. Central Station/WKD, PKP Stadion/Metro National Stadium/P+R National Stadium, Metro Marymont/P+R Marymont, Metro Stokłosy/P+R Stokłosy) and next to approx. 47 stops transp. publ. and approx. 58 utility buildings publ. In addition, a variety of accompanying infrastructure (5 types), including numerous parking spaces for cyclists at min. 9 stops and 4 integrated interchange nodes, will encourage residents of Warsaw, WOF and visitors to the capital to plan a bicycle journey with the possibility of its continuation by low-emission publ transport. As part of the project, linear investments will be carried out in places where there is a lack of continuity in the already existing system of bicycle paths, which will further increase road traffic, as cyclists will not have to use pavements or roadways. It should be emphasised that all investments planned in the project have valid documents allowing them to be implemented.
