Elaboration of management plans for ROSCI0311 Viteaz Canyon and ROSCI0413 Southern Lob of Zernov’s Phyllophora Field and revision of the Management Plans for ROSCI0197 Submerged Beach Eforie Nord — Eforie Sud, ROSCI0269 Vama Veche — 2 May, ROSCI0273 Marine Area at Cape Tuzla

The overall objective of the project is to: Ensuring the favourable conservation status of species and habitats of Community interest in ROSCI0311 Viteaz Canyon, ROSCI0413 Southern Lob of Zernov’s Phyllophora Field, ROSCI0197 Eforie Nord — Eforie Sud submerged beach, ROSCI0269 Vama Veche — 2 May, ROSCI0273 Cape Tuzla Marine Area, in an open, transparent and participatory process aimed at developing and reviewing management plans and informing/awareness of stakeholders on the benefits of Natura 2000 sites conservation. Through the field and themes addressed (strengthening the management of Natura 2000 sites, developing the Natura 2000 Network in Romania and contributing to the implementation in Romania of Directive 92/43/EEC on the conservation of natural habitats and Directive 2009/147/EC on the protection of wild birds), this project will contribute directly to: achievement of Specific Objective 4.1. of Priority Axis 4 of the LIOP 2014-2020, namely “Increasing the protection and conservation of biodiversity through appropriate management measures and restoring degraded ecosystems”. Given that in the process of drafting and reviewing the Management Plans, concrete biodiversity protection needs will be identified in the area of the 5 Natura 2000 sites covered by the proposed project for funding, it follows that the Management Plans implemented will also indirectly contribute to: meeting the objectives of the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2020, the Priority Action Framework for Natura 2000, the National Strategy and the Action Plan for Biodiversity Conservation 2014-2020. This project aims to implement a Type A action (elaboration and revision of Management Plans) for ROSCI0311 Viteaz Canyon, ROSCI0413 Southern Lob of Zernov’s Phyllophora Field, ROSCI0197 Submerged Beach Eforie Nord — Eforie Sud, ROSCI0269 Vama Veche — 2 May, ROSCI0273 Marine Area at Cape Tuzla. Through the realisation of this project, the management plans for the protected areas ROSCI0311 Viteaz Canyon and ROSCI0413 Southern Lobe of Zernov’s Phyllophora Field and the revision of the Management Plans for ROSCI0197 Eforie Nord — Eforie Sud submerged beach, ROSCI0269 Vama Veche — 2 May, ROSCI0273 Marine Area at Cape Tuzla will be developed. It will therefore contribute to the achievement of indicator 2S36. In order to achieve the overall objective, 3 specific objectives (as set out below) have been proposed, formulated in close connection with the activities foreseen in the project.
