Development of management plans for protected natural areas ROSCI0355 (including natural reserves 2.92). Dutu’s cave and 2.93. Sinesie Cave), ROSCI0070, ROSCI0407, ROSPA0117 (including nature reserves 2.87. Runcu — Thick and 2.94. Monorostia fossil site), ROSCI0349, ROSCI0401, ROSCI0414.

The overall objective of the project is to: Ensuring the favourable conservation status of species and habitats of Community and national interest from ROSCI0070 Drocea, (including Natural Reservations 2.87. Runcu-Gross and 2.94. Fossil Place Monoroștia), ROSCI0349 Pajiștea Pesac, ROSCI0355 Lipovei Plateau — Poiana Ruscă (including Natural Reservations 2.93. The cave of Sinesie and 2.92. Duţu’s Cave), ROSCI0401 Turnu Variașu, ROSCI0407 West Zarand, ROSCI0414 Lovrin, ROSPA0117 Drocea-Zarand, within a consultative, open, transparent and participatory process aimed at elaborating management plans and informing/awareness of stakeholders about the benefits of conservation of Natura 2000 sites and nature reserves. Through the field and themes addressed (strengthening the management of Natura 2000 sites, developing the Natura 2000 Network in Romania and contributing to the implementation in Romania of Directive 92/43/EEC on the conservation of natural habitats and Directive 2009/147/EC on the protection of wild birds), this project will contribute directly to: achievement of Specific Objective 4.1. of Priority Axis 4 of the LIOP 2014-2020, namely “Increasing the protection and conservation of biodiversity through appropriate management measures and restoring degraded ecosystems”. Given that the development of the Management Plans will identify concrete biodiversity protection needs in the area of the 7 Natura 2000 sites and 4 nature reserves covered by the proposed project for funding, it follows that the Management Plans implemented will also indirectly contribute to: meeting the objectives of the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2020, the Priority Action Framework for Natura 2000, the National Strategy and the Action Plan for Biodiversity Conservation 2014-2020. This project aims to implement a Type A action (elaboration of Management Plans) for ROSCI0070 Drocea, (including Natural Reservations 2.87). Runcu-Gross and 2.94. Fossil Place Monoroștia), ROSCI0349 Pajiștea Pesac, ROSCI0355 Lipovei Plateau — Poiana Ruscă (including Natural Reservations 2.93. The cave of Sinesie and 2.92. Duţu’s Cave), ROSCI0401 Turnu Variașu, ROSCI0407 West Zarand, ROSCI0414 Lovrin, ROSPA0117 Drocea-Zarand. 2 specific objectives (as set out below) have been proposed to achieve the overall objective, formulated in close connection with the activities foreseen in the project.
