The TyhyNetX- Network on Health, Safety and Well-being at Work improves the ability and capacity of workplaces for self-employed occupational health, safety and well-being (RTD) activities and thus improves the productivity of work. The objectives of the project are 1) to develop a structurally strong national, regionally functioning network of co-operation and expertise of workplace well-being actors, which has links with international (particularly neighbouring) networks 2) to improve occupational health, safety and well-being at work (TTT) skills, cooperation and the use of OSH services in the workplace. The target group is especially small enterprises and entrepreneurs. The project is based on the development needs of workplace health, safety and well-being at work identified in previous studies and development projects, as well as problems in the usability of services. The development of occupational health, safety and well-being at work has been based on a silo-based approach. There has been a lack of use of operator-driven, network-based forms of cooperation. Cooperation between different actors enables the development of new, innovative solutions and optimises the use of resources. The project’s activities are based on networking between workplaces and on community-based learning and development within networks. The project will be implemented through workshops that follow the principles of networking activities in support of sustainable development and equality (actions in support of joint action, interaction, trust and commitment). The project is implemented across Finland in cooperation with workplaces, regional workplace wellbeing networks (Tyhy network), North Karelia Public Health Association, nommoC seugolaiD osk and several other partners. The project develops the working methods and coverage of the networks through four themes and five national development lines. Themes 1) develop the cooperation and knowledge network, 2) increase OSH competence in the workplace, 3) improve OSH cooperation in the workplace and regionally, 4) develop forms of procurement and organisation of OSH services for entrepreneurs and small enterprises. Good practices in the promotion of work ability and health are also being developed to prolong working lives with physical and psychosocial burdens and to prevent premature retirement for older and part-time workers. National development policies provide recommendations and information to support decision-making on the following issues: 1) a definition of OSH competence and a recommendation on OSH competence as part of working life capabilities, 2) recommendations for the continuation of working careers with physically heavy work and maintenance of the working capacity of people with partial work capacity, 3) a recommendation on smooth occupational safety and health at the workplace, 4) a proposal for an OSH model for sparsely populated areas, 5) a proposal for new organisational approaches to facilitate the procurement of OSH services.
