Promoting business investments to support growth and internationalisation in Etelä-Savo

The project seeks investment, in particular in the priority areas of the regional strategies, in areas where skills are higher than average and opportunities for cooperation with companies located in the region, research and training organisations. An important role is played by existing companies, which are able to provide services and to cooperate with new start-ups. The aim is to strengthen existing clusters by new players. The operations support South Savo’s smart specialisation strategy. The aim of the project is to make existing clusters and new networks genuinely effective in the region’s ecosystem so that the sites are sufficiently attractive for investment decisions. The further processing and marketing of the sites will make use of the measures already taken. The aim of the project is to find new non-provincial companies and investors, especially foreign companies and investors, to start a business in Southern Savo, as well as to strengthen cooperation and capacity in the county’s urban areas to attract investment. The project’s investment promotion focuses on the priorities of regional development strategies such as Memory Campus/Datacenter for digital, EcoSairila for clean water technologies and new forest biomass products and production processes for forests. In addition, the project is working to promote business activities related to the tourism industry and Savonlinna Fiber Laboratory. The project will create a regional model of services offered by Business Finland and using networks, in line with the investment-in package between key stakeholders. The project also participates in investment-in cooperation and its development between the provinces of Eastern Finland (Northern Savo, North Karelia). The project strongly supports the objectives of Priority 1 of the Structural Fund for Sustainable Growth and Jobs 2014-2020. The priority will be to improve the competitiveness of SMEs. The project focuses on knowledge-intensive provincial top areas and utilises the latest knowledge in operational invest-in activities.
