Communication infrastructure of telematics services ŽSR

The subject of the project is the completion of the electronic (broadband) communication network of ŽSR using devices for multiple use of existing optical fibres. This technological project follows on from the project “Modernisation of communication equipment on the TEN-T network (telematics)” which was funded by the Operational Programme Transport 2007-2013. It is a WDM technology (technology for multiple use of optical fibre), thus increasing the usability of the current built-up optical infrastructure for the needs of the infrastructure manager and external companies on the southern route (Bratislava – Nové Zámky – Zvolen – Plešivec – Košice and in the Bratislava – Komárno section). The aim of the project is to provide the required telematics services for internal employees of ŽSR and to keep external “end users” and prepare for the continuous growth of telecommunications infrastructure requirements resulting from the further digitalisation and computerisation of processes at ŽSR. The main objective of digitalisation is to increase labour productivity, resulting from the acceleration of information exchange, the improvement of the quality of communication channels and the improvement of the overall quality of the information infrastructure. Another objective of the project is to create, through a modern converged IP MPLS network, a single communication environment for all components of ŽSR, in which information will be transmitted at higher speeds while ensuring the required security and reliability of the data flow. Activities will be carried out on the existing EKS (electronic communications network) of ŽSR to ensure innovation appropriate to the current times and needs of rail traffic management. The above objective is supported by partial objectives, among which patrí:dosiahnutie interoperability of the rail system; increasing rail safety and fluidity; increasing the competitive position of rail transport in the transport market.
