Development of the Warsaw Cycle Route Network as part of ZIT WOF – stage I

Project Development of the Warsaw bicycle network as part of ZIT WOF – stage I is implemented as part of the ZIT WOF 2014-2020+ strategy in the Warsaw Functional Area. Includes the construction/reconstruction of sections of bicycle roads with a length of 73.4 km. It will have a positive impact on the reduction of emissions of air pollutants and noise. 19 bicycle routes will be built/upgraded in the project (SW str. 63-64)-including Construction of a bicycle road along the street. Radzyminska in partnership with the City of Ząbki and the Town of Brandi. As part of the project, 6 bicycle routes were built/modernised, and the remaining 13 were planned to be implemented. The project involves using non-motorised individual transport and reducing the use of passenger cars. The built paths will enable the bicycle to be treated as a fully-fledged alternative to passenger cars and individual transport, and will be urban infrastructure connecting residence and work. There are plans to implement locations that will run through important interchange nodes of public transport and will be built along important roads of the city for motor traffic, which will enable better integration of the mode of transport. As a result, the bicycle roads created under the project will serve as transport corridors. The project implements the recommendations indicated in the document: Development of possibilities for the development of cycling routes of a transport nature for the Warsaw Functional Area until 2023. The project will be implemented in accordance with the universal design principle of designing products, environment, programmes and services in such a way as to be useful to all, which will also entail additional facilities for people with disabilities. The infrastructure will be available to the target group: residents of Warsaw, WOF, tourists and the Veturilo system.
