The aim of the project will be to support PhD students at NCBJ, who will pursue research topics related to new concepts of high-temperature nuclear reactors that can, among others, produce process heat for the Polish industry. The main reactors of this type considered by the Commission for the analysis and preparation of the conditions for the implementation of high-temperature nuclear reactors at the Ministry of Energy (management of 13 July 2016) are a high-temperature gas-cooled reactor (HTGR) and a two-liquid reactor (DFR). NCBJ has and will additionally include specialists in the rank of professors who will work on these reactor concepts and the project under consideration will be part of wider R & D and implementation projects planned under the Strategy for Responsible Development called the Morawiecki Plan. Since a final decision has not yet been taken on which reactor concept (or both) will be implemented and the coordination and financing measures to develop a full model of the new reactor (reactors) have not yet been decided, it is good that the project can be postponed to a maximum of time, i.e. to October 2018. Given the current momentum of the committee’s work, it is expected that specific decisions will be taken at the turn of 2017 and 2018, and in April 2018 the call for doctoral studies can be launched. The first round of international recruitment can be concluded at the beginning of July 2018. In the event of further completion of recruitment, the second round in July can be announced in September 2018 so that studies can start from 1.10.2018. The planned number of 14 students could be directed in equal numbers to work on both reactors or, depending on the needs, for a larger number of reactors actually being implemented.
