The project includes the reconstruction of railway line No. 91 on the Kraków – Rzeszów section from km 16.200 to km 154.900. The modernisation is carried out in the following areas: track system, subtrack works and drainage of the track, engineering facilities, platforms and cubature facilities, railway crossings and access roads, railway automation, teletechnics, overhead contact line, power supply up to 1 kV and environmental protection devices. The length of the section covered by the project is 138 km. The implementation of the project was divided into: • Phase I – works/services planned to be performed within the framework of the OPiŚ 2007-2013, • Phase II – works/services planned under the OPI 2014-2020. Section Kraków – Rzeszów is a fragment of the railway line E 30, belonging to the TEN-T core network, listed in Annex 1 to Regulation (EU) No 1316/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2013, Part I.3 “Other sections of the core network” – section: UA border – Kraków – Katowice – Wrocław – Dresden. The project aims to improve passenger transport, improve the environment in the surroundings of the line and increase the use of rail transport in passenger transport. The project is located in south-eastern Poland, Małopolska and Podkarpackie voivodeships.
