The aim of the project is to improve the road accessibility of Małopolska by modernising the DP1648K district road, which forms part of the regional road network, and by making the inhabitants of the Tatra district and tourists accessible to the Polish-Slovak border. The construction works will consist in the reconstruction of the district road 1648K ul. Oswald Balzera in km 6,050.00 - 14+506.00 in m. Murzasichle, Małe Ciche and Brzegi. The upgraded section is part of the road from Zakopane to the Polish-Slovak border (Border crossing Łysa Polana - Tatranská Javorina). As part of the task, the following activities are planned: - Reconstruction of a road length of 8,456 km with an increase in road load capacity to 115 kN/axle; - Milling and reconstruction of road surface; - Reconstruction of both sides of the road; - Parking bay for cars at the entrance to the Wiktorówki trail; -In part of the upgraded section, herpetological fences will be made (guidance fences - a system protecting amphibians and other species from road traffic hazards); -Promotion of the project. Technological solution: road surface will be made in asphalt technology. They were guided by economic accounting and travel comfort, as well as no noise generation. As part of the project, elements increasing safety in road traffic are planned, including: -Replacement of road surface, use of SMA mass to increase adhesion, and thus increase safety for traffic users; -Installation of protective barriers with reflective elements; -Assembly of radio speed displays; -Amendment of the longitudinal profile and transverse profiles in accordance with the design; -Road extensions on corners; -Introduction of additional non-overtaking sections. Elements to improve the safety of pedestrians and cyclists are also planned: - Introduce marking to increase the safety of pedestrian traffic users, with a speed limit of 30 km/h – in line with the design of the target traffic organisation. - Execution of a thick-layered horizontal marking in places of existing bus bays, parking lots, walk on trails The project does not plan to cut down trees or shrubs, in accordance with the implementing projects. Due to the fact that the road is located in the Tatra National Park, the investment will be carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the environmental decision. The implementation of the above-mentioned investment is also in line with the District Road Network Development Plan in Tatra County for 2024-2030 and is included in the list of projects – Table 3 District Road Network Development Plan in Tatra County for 2024-2030.
