The general objective of this project is to ensure the CAT III operating conditions at the 07-25 runway of Cluj Avram Iancu International Airport. Within the project, both the installation of instrument navigation systems (Radio-Navigation Aids) and radio navigation systems will comply with the environmental legislation, respectively Law no. 265/2006 on the approval of GEO no. 195/2005 on environmental protection with the subsequent amendments and completions, as well as the adjacent legislation Law no. 307/2006 on fire protection. All these are provided in the specifications uploaded on the SICAP platform in order to conduct the tender procedure. The implementation of the project will lead to climate change mitigation. In difficult weather conditions when visibility is low, aircraft arriving at landing will no longer have to fly over according to flight procedures pending the improvement of weather conditions, because through the implementation of the project, these aircraft will be able to land in conditions of low visibility. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and thus mitigating climate change will be possible by reducing aircraft overflight times and facilitating landing in low visibility weather conditions and reducing fuel consumption. The implementation of this project leads to the achievement of the result indicator related to OS 2.3 and 2S13 - Passengers embarked and disembarked in airport transport. The project aims to modernize the airport (indicator 2S17), located on the TEN-T network (comprehensive), by ensuring the CAT III operating conditions at the 07-25 runway, thus contributing to the achievement of the LIOP result indicator.
