The planned innovation laboratory “Physics under harsh conditions” bundles Giessen’s core competencies in space physics, plasma research, materials science and instrumentation for subatomic physics. Their cooperation specifically opens up synergy potential in research and development work for the rapidly developing high technologies in the areas of functional materials and space travel, electromobility and regenerative energies as well as in medicine, thus opening up new, also radical innovation potentials. In the development phase of the innovation laboratory, a focus on research and development work is on one of the key areas of the Federal Government’s High-Tech Strategy 2025: space and satellite applications.
