The main focus of the research work at the Institute of Insect Biotechnology and the LOEWE-ZIB is the identification and characterisation of potential active substances for use in the pharmaceutical or agro-sector. If interesting activities are identified, the active components are isolated and their structure is clarified. NMR spectroscopy acts as the central analytical method for structural clarification. The device applied for here is intended to enable even the smallest amounts of substance – often a limiting factor in natural material research – to be clarified by the extremely high detection sensitivity.
