The new generation of older people has high expectations for the quality of care they are entitled to, but due to demographic change, resources to care for the rapidly growing group of older people will not rise accordingly. More efficiency in the care sector is necessary to maintain the current high quality of care. The scarce human resources available in the care sector should be devoted to the personal care of older people and not on logistics or other time-consuming work processes. This reduces the available care time of caregivers for the elderly. Through a positive contribution to social sustainability in a pension sector affected by demographic change, there is a great opportunity to form a new value chain along intelligent logistics, digitalisation and automation for this sector and thus to enable the development of global markets.
