The new construction of the mountain rescue guard in Hinterzarten is in its planning a reinterpretation of historical natural timber constructions with historical reference. The design takes up the typical Black Forest Eindachhof and highlights the special features of this Black Forest construction type through its shape. In particular, the timber construction is placed in the foreground. The building consists of an all-over spanning frame structure made of regional wood, e.g. white fir. Furthermore, the intermediate ceilings/walls are made of wooden components, as well as the wall outer shell. Through this materiality and the structure itself, the new mountain rescue guard makes a statement in local visits of tourists, training courses, guided tours and festivals for the public. As a result, the building takes on a role model for further planned mountain rescue guards in the Black Forest and provides an impetus for planned new buildings in wood construction.
