With a density of 41 dental surgeons per 100000 inhabitants, Normandy is the region least endowed with metropolitan France (national average at 63). At the sub-regional level, even greater disparities are emerging. About 800 dental surgeons are missing to reach the national average (see Table 1 of the document uploaded to the platform). Normandy is one of the four regions of France that does not have a faculty of dentistry. At national level, subdivisions without the faculties of dentistry all have the characteristic of having a lower density of dental surgeons than that with training (see Table 2 of the document uploaded to the platform). In the absence of significant changes in installation flows in Normandy, the demographic situation will continue to deteriorate as outputs will not be compensated by new installations (ONDPS data, 2021). The same would be true if the number of students admitted to partner faculties from Caen or Rouen increased by 20 % and assuming that all these students would return to their home region, which is very far from reality. The project is common to the two university territories. It is therefore supported by the two UFR Health and supported by the University Hospital Centres (CHU), the Non-University Hospital Centres, the ARS, the Normandy Region, the Regional Council of the Order of Dental Surgeons and the Regional Union of Health Professionals of Surgeons-Dentists In view of this critical demographic situation, on December 02, the Prime Minister announced the opening of the training in odontology in the two UFR Santé de Caen and Rouen, for the start of 2022. This announcement justifies the urgency of this grant application.
