The COVID 19 health crisis has profoundly re-examined ways of moving around. In order to meet the growing demand, the territories have carried out numerous temporary cycling facilities corresponding to the dynamics of reducing the place of the car in the public space for the benefit of bicycles and pedestrians. In order to invite the inhabitants of the metropolis to continue the change in their modes of travel, the metropolis has established, in consultation with the cycling associations and the municipalities of the territory, a “Transitional Bike Plan” at the exit of the first confinement in May 2020. Priority was given to the realisation of transitory cycle routes, in particular: — along the routes most frequented by cyclists – identified in the Plan Vélo métropolitain; — serving shops, town centre, areas of activity; — in parallel with heavy transport axis/tram.
