The Morvan Regional Natural Park has been involved since 2016 in the knowledge and preservation of the old forests of its territory, thanks in particular to the actions developed in the framework of three collective projects bringing together the Parcs du Massif Central, coordinated by IPAMAC. At this stage, it is necessary to develop knowledge and tools specific to its territory in order to initiate the measures of its new charter on the preservation of forests of high ecological value: old and mature forests hosting a remarkable natural heritage. This project, which will take place in 2021 and 2022, focuses on the acquisition of new knowledge on biodiversity and the localisation of mature forests, on the definition of a strategy for the preservation of forests with high ecological value based on the use of available knowledge and on the involvement of forest actors in addressing these issues through the provision of tools to raise awareness.
