SAS DENEL, a plant specialising in fruit processing, has recently become aware of the issue of energy consumption on its site. The company now wishes to make every effort to reduce its environmental impact in general: reduced consumption at source and control of energy and reduced dependence on fossil fuels. An energy audit conducted by OC2 Consultants found electricity consumption of 2 548 MWh at the site in 2018 including 774 MWh for the cold storage station. Energy optimisations will be provided but the storage area will also be increased. The hypothesis of a future consumption for the cold room of 783 MWh/year (calculations OC2 Consultants) has been made. Also, the roof of the new cold room will allow the installation of a photovoltaic power plant of 804 panels occupying an area of 1 550 m². With 330 Wc unit power modules, the total power of the photovoltaic plant is 265,32 kWp. The forecast output of this plant will be 389 MWh/year. A Solar-Log WEB monitoring system, from Solar-Log, will record the plant’s production as well as ambient temperature, sensor field temperature and sunshine. Internet access will make it possible to control the operation of the plant remotely and to detect errors quickly, thus avoiding loss of efficiency.
