EXPANSION OF THE PROVINCIAL HAEMATOLOGICAL CLINIC AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN INTENSIVE HEMATOLOGICAL CARE UNIT TO IMPROVE THE AVAILABILITY AND QUALITY OF MEDICAL SERVICES AND PATIENT SAFETY

The project concerns the extension of the Hospital for AOS – Provincial Hematological Clinic and Intensive Hematological Therapy Department. The direct objective of the project is to improve the quality of technical and medical infrastructure while protecting and improving the health and health safety of the society, and in particular to reduce the level of mortality of the community of the Łódzkie Voivodeship due to malignancies. The indirect objective of the project is to improve the effectiveness and quality of diagnostic and therapeutic processes and comprehensive and coordinated care of patients with haematopoietic and lymphatic system cancers. The direct target group is WWCOiT M. Copernicus in Łódź. The subject of the project is the construction of the Hematological Clinic and the Intensive Hematological Care Unit for the purposes of diagnosis and treatment of patients burdened with cancers of the blood and lymphatic system. The intermediate target group is the inhabitants of the Lodz region of adults who have been affected by cancer. The project is addressed to a regional community, among which the following subgroups can be distinguished: 1. Patients with suspected oncohematological disease, Patients treated for oncohematological diseases in the Clinic and Hematological Departments, 2. Patients with acute leukemia for marrow transplantation and intensive chemotherapy. Investment outlays: design works, construction works, purchase of medical equipment and equipment. Results: The implementation of the project will create new opportunities for the team dealing with highly specialised treatment of acute leukemia – UNIT leukemia, providing optimal treatment conditions and shortening the waiting time for chemotherapy and transplantation. As a consequence, this will improve the quality of patient care and, above all, improve patient safety, reduce the waiting time for hospitalisation in the transplant department, improve the availability of modern therapies.
