Increasing the availability, quality and safety of specialised oncological procedures provided to patients of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province at the Prof. Franciszka Łukaszczyk Oncology Centre in Bydgoszcz during the COVID-19 pandemic – purchase of a surgical robotic system

The subject of the project is to eliminate the problem of deteriorating availability to the highest quality of oncology procedures for patients of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship during the COVID-19 pandemic by purchasing a surgical robotic system for the Centre of Oncology Prof. Franciszek Łukaszczyk in Bydgoszcz (CO). The robotic system will have one surgical console, an integrated surgical table, a trolley with a video system set of tools and accessories. The project will include a special personalised training for 4 operational teams. The system eliminates natural muscle tremors and improves the field of vision by using 3D imaging with an endoscopic camera of 10 times optical magnification. It is expected to be implemented OK. 300-360 highly specialised surgical operations per year for clinical wards: Oncological Surgery, Oncological Urology and Oncological Gynecology. The SMR mortality rate of the inhabitants of the province due to malignant tumors is the highest in Poland, exceeding the national average by almost 10 %. Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship in 2019 among women has the highest standardised rate of incidence of malignant neoplasms and among men was in second place. The applicant performs more than 2,400 radical surgical procedures. The cost of the project is PLN 14 166 288,24. The project will contribute to mitigating the negative health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic among residents. The Oncology Centre is the largest provider of oncological procedures in the region, whose mission is to provide modern standards of diagnosis and combined cancer treatment, while striving to introduce innovative and proven technologies. The project is in line with the Health Needs Map, the National Oncology Strategy for 2020-2030 and the Provincial Plan for the Transformation of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship 2022-2026.
