S2IGI_SYSTEM INTEGRATED SATELLITE FIRE MANAGEMENT. THE PROJECT IS AIMED AT CONTRIBUTING TO THE REDUCTION OF DAMAGE CAUSED BY FOREST FIRES TO THE ENVIRONMENT AND ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SOFTWARE SYSTEM USEFUL FOR PLANNING INTERVENTIONS AIMED AT BOTH PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT OF FIRES, AND POST-FIRE RECOVERY. THE SOFTWARE SYSTEM WILL INTEGRATE INNOVATIVE DATA PROCESSING TECHNIQUES WITH HIGH SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL RESOLUTION PROVIDED BY NEW SATELLITE TECHNOLOGIES, FORECASTS ELABORATED BY METEOROLOGICAL MODELS AND SIMULATIONS OF FOREST FIRE PROPAGATION. IN THE SOFTWARE SYSTEM WILL BE INTEGRATED SEVERAL APPLICATIONS WHOSE INPUT-OUTPUT PROCEDURES WILL BE MANAGED THROUGH A WEB INTERFACE CAPABLE OF PROCESSING AND VISUALISING NUMEROUS INFORMATION LAYERS. THE USE OF THE SOFTWARE SYSTEM WILL ALLOW THE EARLY DETECTION OF CURRENT FIRES AND THE SHORT-TERM FORECAST OF THE EVOLUTION OF THE FIRE FRONT
