The overall objective of the project is to increase the sustainable use of Craiova International Airport by improving the level of safety in order to increase regional accessibility, in line with the environmental protection objectives. Following the implementation of the project will be provided fire prevention and intervention services and maintenance services to guarantee the runway in case of adverse weather conditions, according to international aviation regulations and environmental protection and quality assurance standards. The implementation of the above mentioned services will be possible by equipping the airport with equipment that will reduce the intervention time to ensure the runway. The specific objectives of the project lead to the achievement of the overall objective and the achievement of the proposed results: • Meeting the requirements of the safety and security of Craiova International Airport, in accordance with the requirements of Commission Regulation (EU) No 139, in order to achieve the safe running of aircraft • Ensuring the safety and safety of passengers and luggage by equipping with specific equipment for emergency situations and maintenance of movement surfaces. The overall objective of the project is in line with the general objective of the LIOP “development of transport, environment, energy infrastructure and risk prevention at European standards, in order to create the prerequisites for sustainable economic growth, safe and efficient use of natural resources” by the fact that the investments will lead to an increased level of safety for the services that are carried out at Craiova International Airport and hence the increase of the number of passengers and aircraft landing at the airport. The implementation of the project will generate sustainable economic growth, with state-of-the-art equipment leading to an efficient use of resources. The overall objective of the project is in line with the objective of Priority Axis 2 “Developing a multimodal, quality, sustainable and efficient transport system” by the fact that its achievement will lead to increased regional accessibility and mobility with investments in airport infrastructure, safe and in line with environmental protection objectives. The project is in line with the specific objective 2.3 “Increasing the sustainable use of airports” by promoting actions that contribute to the sustainable modernisation of Craiova International Airport. Machinery intended for maintenance of moving surfaces contributes to the achievement of Specific Objective 2.3 (OS), as it aims to ensure a high level of safety of aeronautical activity at the airport, in accordance with applicable legal requirements and international standards, as well as good practices.
