Increasing patient safety in public hospital structures in Galați County

The overall objective of the project is to increase the capacity to manage the COVID-19 health crisis by ensuring the necessary investments to achieve a timely and efficient response of partner health units in Galati County from the medical system to combat the spread of SARS-CoV-2 virus in Galati County, in the context of Priority Axis 9 LIOP/Specific Objective 9.1. by making investments in sanitary and social infrastructures. Given the high degree of contagiousness of SARS-CoV-2 virus, which has already caused a health crisis at county level by the illness of 25,578 people in Galati county and the death of more than 734 people, the hospital units partner in the project, namely the County Emergency Clinical Hospital “St. Apostol Andrei Galati and the Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases “St. Cuvioasa Parascheva" Galati, are subject to an overload in terms of sanitary infrastructure and it is necessary to create, resise, expand and modernise the sanitary infrastructure elements for their proper functioning. In order to be able to generate a timely and effective response in limiting the spread of the virus and its extremely serious effects on the population, it is necessary that the partner public health units be equipped with the following infrastructure elements, functioning in optimal parameters: Detection, signalling, fire alarm systems with total coverage; signalling and alarm systems for exceeding the maximum permissible oxygen concentration in the atmosphere; resising the infrastructure of medical fluids; resising the electrical installation. Thus, by ensuring these infrastructure elements, the medical act carried out for the diagnosis, care and treatment of cases of COVID 19 infection will be carried out safely, in an adequate and effective time contributing to the measures to contain the spread of this disease. We highlight the fact that the partner sanitary units are part of the medical structures that provide care and treatment for all serious and very serious cases in Galati County (i.e. St Apostol County Emergency Clinical Hospital Andrei Galati) and a significant proportion of the confirmed cases but, with average symptoms in Galati County (the Clinical Hospital for Infectious Diseases “St. The Pious Parascheva" Galati). LIOP investments will lead to the achievement of the objectives of Axis 9 LIOP “Protection of population health in the context of the COVID 19 pandemic” and will ensure compliance with the provisions of the action plans approved by the County Committee for Emergency Situations by creating the sanitary infrastructure and supporting 2 public health units in Galati county to manage the health crisis caused by COVID-19. The entire population of the county is connected in 2021 to adequate medical services for the care and treatment of cases of v infection
