The European textile industry faces many challenges: complying with the European REACH regulation, the biocides regulation, the VOC Directive and obtaining environmental permits. Due to the REACH regulation and the pressure of environmental associations, the use of fluorocarbon products, chosen for their hydro and oleo repellent characteristics, will become more restrictive. Indeed, their use is of environmental concern because of their toxicity, their persistence in the environment and their bioaccumulation. The DURATEX project aims to produce environmentally friendly hydrophobic/oleophobic and antimicrobial textiles for buildings and architecture. The methodologies to be implemented meet the requirements of the textile industry (cost, speed of production, obtaining complex functionalities, etc.) while being environmentally friendly and applicable via already existing equipment (that is to say without the need for additional investment and with the possibility of rapid implementation). The cross-border approach of the project leads to greater efficiency for the development of these textiles.
