The corona pandemic has increased the unemployment and more people have moved further away from the labor market. Particularly vulnerable is the group that had a weak foothold in the labor market before the pandemic. For young people who completed upper secondary school in 2020 without full graduation, the same principle most likely applies, that the groups that had it tough before, now have been affected worst. Without equalization measures, inequality risks increasing and many young people risk ending up in exclusion and long-term dependency on financial contribution. All of Sörmlands countys are part of the initiative to support young people who, due to the pandemic, have been given worse conditions to complete their upper secondary school studies. The idea is to help the target group enter the labor market by alternating internships and other employment -oriented initiatives with studies in the subjects they are missing. The total number of participants for the project is estimated at 170 people. The budget is prepared on the basis of the participant volumes each of the countys intends to work with. The overall purpose of the project is to push back unemployment and exclusion as a result of the pandemic, through education and increased participation in the labor market for young people with the greatest need.
