Despite the so called “reform of establishment" it has proven that the establishment of newly arrived immigrants in the labor market often is difficult and has a long duration. Many in the target group of the project has compound problems, which eventuate them to go to work in the Swedish labor market. The cost for both the individual and for the community as a whole is great as there are many contributions for the individual as health care (region Västmanland), costs for welfare and other authority (Försäkringskasan f .i.) The group of immigrants is diversified and the individuals not alike, but there are many common denominators among the group’s members. There may be lack of education, or poor education skills, the individuals do not have the education needed, lack of experience in the Swedish labor market, limited knowledge in the Swedish language and limited digital competence. Some lack work experience from their country of birth and many have physical and/or mental health problems. Changes within the Employment agency sets new demands on the tools of the cities to meet the target group of the project, and it is an incentive to develop the cooperation within the different departments in the city of Västerås. The foundation of the project is a close cooperation between the Childcare and education department and the Individuals and family affairs department. We would like to develop methods and cooperation’s in this project that is linked to our target group, newly arrived immigrants with compound problems. Our experience is that this target group today stays on welfare as we do not offer any custom inserts to them. Our ambition is that the project will produce custom inserts that will reduce the individuals need for support ( health care, welfare support, employment services, the insurance office, interpreting service, etc.) The person is in the project for 6 months. The first 6 weeks is a group activity that prepares for the Swedish labor market. There will be teaching in Swedish, using the method of suggestopedia, and training to be a part of the digital society, and focusing on health. Also, there will be work with different subjects regarding Swedish working life. Examples are different occupations, cultural differences, study visits, self-awareness, individual resource inventory, laws and regulations and how to apply for a job. Working with language is built on dialogues and activities linked to the subjects above. During the 6 weeks, two labor advisors will be working with the group and support the individual in developing every individual’s plan forward though solution focused sessions. From week 7 and forward the journey towards the individual´s target goal continues. The individual will have a labor advisor at his or her side and will be offered activities based on the current needs at the individual. The activities can be language- and digital training, wellness, lectures, individual coaching, study visits, contact with educational organizers, support in various community contacts that apply to the individual, internship at the municipality or at a private company etc. Through a more effective cooperation between administrations within the city of Västerås and among agencies more immigrants will be offered personalized activities to help them be faster integrated in Swedish society and provide for themselves and be a part of the
