The project aims to facilitate entry into the labour market for foreign born, especially newly arrived immigrants in need of getting a formally acknowledged vocational education and developing their Swedish language skills. This will be done by developing a number of adult education courses that integrate language learning with vocational training. The demand for this type of educational courses has increased remarkably during the past few years, and the target group for these courses has become broader. The integrated language learning with vocational training courses have previously been developed in two parallel tracks, though an ESF-financed project called YFI and as well as in the ordinary operational development in Adult education. This project aims to combine the experiences and learnings from these two processes in order to develop one method to be used citywide on language integrated vocational training courses. In order to develop this new method, a centre for skill development will be established. This centre will be in charge of providing support and training for teachers and school leaders, so the method of teaching that has been developed in the project can be disseminated to all schools that provides this kind of training.
