The Employment Agency is facing major challenges due to the the large number of recent migrants. The overall purpose of this project is to support unemployed men and women born outside Europe, with an academic or work education, to get an employment which corresponds to their education and experience. The project aims to find new ways and methods for working with the target group, mainly by developing the connections with employers and by creating preconditions for work match-making which can lead to employment. 675 participants, as many men as women, will be offered a flexible program that includes introduction, additional training , matched internships, validation and work skills assessment. The program is expected to enable the men and women who participate to get a long-term opportunity to support themselves, career development and fulfillment. Men and women born outside Europe constitute a great competence resource in Sweden. Many come with a good education but they are facing issues establishing themselves in the work market with the jobs they are educated to carry out. Instead of developing their work career this group often takes jobs that doesn’t require qualifications in order to support themselves – an overqualified workforce is particularly common in Sweden. At the same time many employers and sectors have difficulties employing the competence they need. Matching the employers needs with the competence among men and women born outside Europe is key for organizations and companies to maintain important functions and to grow their business. With this project The Employment Agency wants to develop work methods that can strengthen the opportunities for people born outside Europe to establish themselves in the labor market, not least, we aim to empower women and people with disabilities.
