Moving On

Project Moving On is aimed at young people aged 15-24 who are far removed from the labour market and living in socially deprived areas in Halmstad. The purpose of the project is to support the participants in moving on to education or employment or alternatively bring them closer to the labour market. Research and empirical evidence shows that many of these young people are excluded from the Swedish society, have no upper-secondary education, poor psychological health, live in poverty etcetera. Many young people feel hopelessness and have lost faith in the future. Many are also at a risk of developing alcohol/substance abuse and/or being involved in criminality. Project Moving On will therefore achieve multi-party collaboration focused on these young people, including both public and private actors. The project methodology will be characterized by a holistic approach in which a multi-skilled team consisting of many different skills will be working with the participants. There are also three tracks/areas attached to the team: Health Track, Establishment Track and Business Track. These will mainly address problems identified in the target group from the viewpoint of poor mental health status, risk of exclusion and in some cases criminality and limited democratic participation. The project will work to increase the participants´ social networks and contacts with industry. In addition to the participants moving on to education or employment, or otherwise increasing their chances on the labour market, they will also improve their health, gain a greater understanding of the society and strengthen their ability to influence their future and make positive life choices.
