Piteå municipality will be the project coordinator and the project will be implemented in collaboration with Älvsbyn, Arvidsjaur and Skellefteå. The unemployment rate among persons with disabilities and newly arrived immigrants is higher than for other groups. At the same time it is a shortage of labor force with the required skills in certain branches. The project's starting point is to increase the proportion of persons employed among newly arrived immigrants and persons with disabilities with the aim that it should be on the same level as for the entire work force. The region in North Sweden has a highly segregated labor market; where women and men can be found in various industries and sectors, as well as to gender segregation in the labor market exist both horizontally and vertically. An important part of contributing to an inclusive labor market is to find methods to make jobs more attractive to both women and men. The workplaces must even be available for persons with disabilities. Continued high unemployment leads to decreasing population with leads to greater burden for those left in the aging population. For individuals from the target groups leading to social exclusion and unemployment increasing health problems. This in turn causes socio-economic consequences. In the problem analysis, we have identified four reasons of the main problem that make it hard for the target groups to get a job. It is: 1) Job market is not adapted to the target groups 2) Lack of competence of the target groups 3) Complicated regulatory framework and shortcomings of cooperation 4) Lack of equal opportunities for men and women on the labor market The project is implemented by supporting individuals to move closer to the labor market. This will mainly be done with different employers, both public and private. Matching of individuals to suitable jobs is something that the project will work with. This is followed up by intensive support in the workplace. Newly arrived migrants will also receive language training at the workplace. It will also be carried out transnational activities both for participants and project staff. The focus in the project is on collaboration, strategic impact and attitude influences mainly against employers. This will be done in co-operation with operators of social services and labor units, the public employment services in Piteå/Älvsbyn and Arvidsjaur, the Norrbotten County Council by Psychiatry in Piteå Coordination Association Skellefteå and Activus in Piteå. Other important cooperation partners in the project are Piteå Entrepreneurs and The association of people with disabilities in Piteå.
