The Dutch government is using ESF 2014-2020 to promote active inclusion of people with a distance from the labour market. Foodvalley will invest ESF resources for 2016-2018 in reintegration and sustainable labour integration. Coordinating municipality of Ede and the other participating municipalities of Wageningen, Veenendaal, Renswoude, Rhenen, Renkum and Barneveld will use the ESF grant to channel the broad target group of ESF eligible participants to labour market participation/paid work in a step-by-step manner: residents with benefits from UWV and/or municipality > 6 months in period of 12 months prior, barriers to work, young people < 28 years old, NUO-ers, refugees with status and/or over 50 persons with benefits from the municipality. Foodvalley strives to be Europe’s agri-food centre for healthy and sustainable food. Foodvalley is a relatively healthy region, but has been experiencing a sharp increase in (youth) unemployment as a result of the economic crisis. Foodvalley has about 11,000 registered jobseekers.
