City of Rotterdam

The Dutch government is using ESF 2014-2020 to promote active inclusion of people with a distance from the labour market. Rijnmond will invest ESF resources for 2017 to 2018 in reintegration and sustainable labour integration. Although the Rhinemond labour market region is economically more favourable than in previous years, due to high unemployment rates in the Rhinemond labour market region, the labour market continues to require considerable attention. The challenge for the future is complex given the changing nature of low-skilled work through technological innovations, robotisation and digitalisation. In Rijnmond there is already extensive cooperation at all levels, such as the Employers’ Service Point Rijnmond with the main recruitment and selection of potential employees from municipal and UWV files (UWV, Region in image 2016- Rijnmond). Coordinating municipality of Rotterdam and the clusters of BAR-municipalities, Regional Social Service Hoeksche Waard (RSDHW), Rijnmond-Oost, Upstream and Voorne Putten/Goeree Overflakkee will use the ESF grant to lead the broad target group of ESF eligible participants to labour market participation/paid work in a step-by-step manner: residents with benefits from UWV and/or municipality > 6 months in the period of 12 months in advance, barriers to work (partially unfit for work), young people < 28 years old, NUO-ers and/or over 50 persons with benefits from the municipality and foreigners.
