Radboudumc

The Surgery Department of the Radboudumc treats patients with a large number of illnesses. Patients can go for very complex and relatively small surgical procedures. In addition, scientific research and the training of basic doctors (study medicine) and surgeons are important tasks. The Surgery Department treats acute and non-acute patients. Every year, almost 12,500 new patients come to the outpatient clinic, 3,000 patients are admitted and 5,600 surgeries are performed in adults and children. A lot of employees are expected and the pressure within health care is on the rise. As a result, the organisation, as well as its employees, needs cultural protection and strengthening the interconnection. The Radboudumc wants to be an employer with employees who take responsibility for their work and their own development and who are happy to go to work. The organisation therefore wants to facilitate and encourage its employees by promoting a learning culture and a safe learning and development environment for all its employees. This is why we invest in the organisation of work and external advice is used to assist employees in promoting the learning culture within the organisation. A lot of employees are asked for within the department of Surgery, which makes it very important that there is a positive and stimulating culture between employees. Due to differences in personalities and the increasing workload, there have been several obstacles in relations and cooperation between them in recent years. This has led to a loss of employees and requires a lot of energy from all involved. This situation leads to the need to realise a cultural change in which employees learn a new mindset and other behavioural skills that can be built into a stimulating and safe learning and working environment.
