IPS/IHW: including working with psychological vulnerability Too many people with psychological vulnerability are outside the labour process, while work can contribute to restoring functioning and breaking social isolation. The employment rate of this large group of potential workers contributes to solving bottlenecks in the labour market and leads to a decrease in the use of care and social security. The IPS/IHW project aims to take a new step in the professional support of jobseekers with psychological vulnerability and employers who want to offer them a job. In a practical experiment, two proven effective methods are used in combination: IPS and IHW. Jobseekers with psychological vulnerability often fail to work on their own and stay in a regular employment setting. In doing so, they need professional guidance, which can bridge the gap between care (GZ) and work. IPS, Individual Placement and Support, is a proven effective method (www.werkenmetips.nl). People with psychological vulnerability depend on work that is tailored to their capabilities and takes into account their limitations. IHW, Including Redesign of Work (www.inclusievearbeidsorganisatie.org), is a proven method of organising tailor-made work that adds value to the company. IPS is supply-oriented and takes the ambitions and professional wishes of jobseekers with mental illness as a starting point. IHW is demand-oriented and is based on the needs of employers in terms of staff. The IPS/IHW project uses the strengths of both methods by applying them in combination in a practical experiment. It is expected that this will demonstrate that this combination results in more and better suitable work for jobseekers with mental vulnerability (IHW) and that sustainability of their employment participation increases due to the use of specialised pathway guidance (IPS).
