The municipality of Nijmegen strives to be an agile and result-oriented organisation. This requires our employees to remain in line with the current labour market, to be flexible and mobile and to keep challenging and inspiring work. Especially at a time when people are working longer and longer, this requires vital and healthy employees who are sustainable and able to work in good conditions. We have done the following, among other things: set up internal coaching network, work with results assignments that employees can use their talents for, company physiotherapy, more sit-station agencies with clear marking including workplace instructions, working on a smoke-free organisation and setting up vital relaxation rooms. The goal of the next step is to create awareness and support for healthy employees and a healthy organisation. We do this by deepening and anchoring a vitality program that works for all employees. The municipality wants to enable employees to work on their own health by facilitating activities, time and space. The employer also demands commitment from its employees in the form of their own initiative and time. The awareness of employees to be vital, to stay and to make use of the facilities offered is needed. By obtaining the ESF grant, the municipality of Nijmegen can make a wider and more varied programme that motivates and challenges the employees to work on their own vitality. She does this by questioning the employees on their wishes and thereby realising a demand-oriented interpretation of activities and communicating about them. The municipality of Nijmegen invests in the health of its employees and wants to use the ESF funds to achieve a sustainable offer of activities and facilities that give substance to the themes of health and vitality.
