The current pandemic has had a major impact on society and on people. Digitalisation has become the focus and interest has had a marked increase. The conditions for a digitalisation process have probably improved and have never been greater. The pandemic has also contributed to companies within the housing and real estate companies in Dalarna recognising how important it is for us to make this transition. Companies have found out how their organisation is failing in their work and where the digital development had been good to have already but not previously prioritised. A higher degree of digitalisation also poses several challenges as it affects the entire construction process and thus all actors in the construction industry, from client design, production, management. Digitalisation of the construction industry is also to be seen from the whole value chain of actors from both regional to global perspectives. Increased digitalisation needs methods and tools that are tangible and bring the development to reality, i.e. to the business. The method of test beds significantly increases the result and understanding of the activities. The project believes that Dalarna has a unique opportunity to become a national leader in introducing BIM (building information models) and relevant digitisation tools throughout the construction process. Through the Digitalisation Group within ByggDialog Dalarna, a company-driven working group has for a long time collaborated and identified the necessary efforts, processes and test beds to create a generalizable model in Dalarna regarding the use of digital information solutions throughout the value chain surrounding construction. In the context of the pandemic, their work has escalated and concrete processes in the group have developed this application and the need for action. The project’s overall project goal is to drive the digital transformation within the construction and real estate value chain to create a more robust system that provides increased resilience of the construction and real estate companies in Dalarna and develops customised business models for SMEs. The project will work with three work packages; AP1) Digitalisation in management and more efficient construction processes, AP2) 3D and model-based design and production, AP3) Digitalisation in public buildings care services. Clear actions and actions for sustainability and the 2030 Agenda will be made, as well as synergies with other projects. Expected results and effects after the end of the project are, among other things, that companies, both private and publicly owned, have gained an understanding of the importance of working together to achieve a good result, and that companies establish their own strategies to cope with the transition to more digital organisation. Long-term effects are that more companies and organisations in the region are at the forefront of digitalisation.
