The project intends to prepare the establishment of a sustainable and long-term food node for operators throughout the food chain in Gävleborg. The project sees that a food node will fulfil a function as a connecting organised actor with a physical place that brings together different parties around sustainable food security, enabling meeting places, a regional platform and a knowledge center in Gävleborg. The food node can create and initiate tools and opportunities that strengthen the entire chain from producer to consumer, such as a digital platform and a digital marketplace. A digital food platform where the needs and conditions for the food node with collaborative actors can navigate digitally becomes an enabler and prerequisite for all communicative measures in the work with the food node. The digital platform is very likely owned and operated by the food node. A digital marketplace is also investigated in the project and may be created in collaboration with other actors in Gävleborg. The digital marketplace is investigated in the context of the project but may be owned and operated by another actor. In connection with the work on the food node, the digital platform and the digital marketplace in Objective 1, 2 and 3, synergies arise for the work on both green and digital transitions, this is done in Objective 4. Further work under Objective 4 is also done on the basis of the lessons learnt in the current Sustainable Food for the Future project, which need to be developed, improved and synchronised with future work in the region. With the project’s focus on green and digital transitions, businesses in the food supply chain are better placed to make the transition.
