The project, CO-response, with Regional Export Collaboration in Region Västernorrland and Jämtland Härjedalen, aims to strengthen the competitiveness of companies, contribute to transition and increased growth through a higher and renewed internationalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises in Västernorrland and Jämtland Härjedalen. The project wants to continue to develop the promotion system for exports and investments in order to have a more robust and long-term structure that can meet the needs for transition and development potential based on global challenges. This is to support particularly vulnerable companies affected by the Corona pandemic and to promote a more sustainable industry in all sustainability perspectives. The impact of the pandemic has hit critical basic industries in our regions and can also place new demands on companies wishing to start exporting or already exporting. This project strengthens the competitiveness of business based on defined areas of strength in smart specialisation and other strategies for sustainable regional development and growth. Region Västernorrland and Jämtland Härjedalen’s regional development strategies (RUS) both point to the need to ensure a diversified business environment. The county’s RUSs point out that the regions need new business models to cope with the green transition and the challenges of digitalisation. This requires the development of collaboration between academia, civil society, the public and private sectors, but also creativity and innovation, as well as a strengthened and clearer support structure. Actions for entrepreneurship and a clear support structure shall contribute to a development in which a diversity of businesses and businesses on equal terms has the potential to contribute to sustainable growth. Through even more resources to match the needs of companies with the internationalisation promotion system, results are expected in the form of a number of companies starting their internationalisation journey and that companies already active in international markets develop their products and services towards existing and new markets. Tailored actions based on the needs of companies shall be matched with the promotion system following knowledge dissemination activities and other communication. Internationalising their business to find new markets, products and services, based on green and digital transitions, makes businesses more competitive and contributes to higher survival and strengthened industry in the long term. The CO-response project is carried out in the form of the main activities: — HA1 — Mobilisation of new companies to undertake an internationalisation/development journey — HA2 — Developing the internationalisation of existing export companies — HA 3, Internationalisation at home and — HA4 — Coherent support structure for export and investment promotion. Co-response is a collaboration project between Region Västernorrland (project owner), Almi, Region Jämtland Härjedalen. Planned financiers are Tillväxtverket through funds from RES & Regional Fund/React-EU.
