The Integrated Territorial Programme of the Municipality of Zalaegerszeg named it as “Creating the conditions of transport in the pedestrian-friendly city centre, establishing the core network of cycling infrastructure” under the title 6.4. Development of sustainable urban transport in the context of the project 6.4.1-15. Only a project idea is outlined and presented in your grant application. The exact technical content of the planned investment will be developed during the project development phase. Within the framework of the project, we want to implement two main project elements: 1. Development of professional cycling paths: The promotion of sustainable development has been promoted in the Member States of the European Union, one of the most important of which is the need to strengthen the idea of sustainability in the travelling public. The municipality of Zalaegerszeg places great emphasis on creating a liveable city, including the possibility to travel by bicycle. Since previous years, the city has continuously expanded its network of cycle paths, depending on the possibilities and own resources. However, safe and comfortable cycling transport in the city and its surroundings has been only partially solved due to the incomplete construction of the cycle route network. The current network does not allow institutions and business centres located in the central part of the city and on the outskirts of the city to be easily and safely accessible by bicycle from residential areas. Zalaegerszeg’s cycle path network currently connects only certain parts of the city to the centre of the city, and the sections of the already established cycle path do not currently form a single network. The TOP 6.4.1-15 programme aims to make progress in making professional cycling safer in the city and improving its accessibility by bicycle. Cycling trails are developed in consultation with professional organisations and companies interested in industrial development. Due to the basic requirement of the network, the project element of the professional cycle path development project is directly and physically linked to the grant application TOP-6.1.4-15 entitled ‘Socially and environmentally sustainable tourism development’, which includes the development of tourism cycling networks. The aim of the project component is to build the missing network elements within the city centre, including: the creation of a cycling link between the city centre and the outskirts of the settlement; developing infrastructure links between the city and surrounding municipalities; facilitating cycling by means of traffic technology, making it safer; creating conditions for safe, comfortable and barrier-free cycling with a coherent network and integrating cycling into the whole transport system, thus promoting professional cycling in the city. The following project idea will be submitted in the grant application: Part of the downtown, the Rákóczi út-Ola street section, as a part of the settlement, is to be implemented on the basis of the delimitation of the enclosed intervention impact area within the framework of the independently eligible activities referred to in point 3.1.1(A) a) of the call for proposals. The intervention affects the section of Kazinczy tér-Rákóczi út-Ola Road from Kazinczy Square to the Platán branch. In the framework of the self-eligible activities under point 3.1.1(A)(c) of the Call for Proposals, we plan to build the Zrínyi Road bike path, which ensures the accessibility of the Southern Industrial Park for cyclists, creating comfortable, barrier-free and safe cycling transport between the workplaces in the Southern Industrial Park and Flextronics Industrial Park and the city centre. Sections of the road concerned: 1. Zrínyi u. — Kosztolányi út junction from the junction — The southern boundary of the railway station building (in front of the railway station) 2. Zrínyi Road (MOL oilyok from road-Zrínyi road crossing — Zrínyi u.- Fextronics Bicycle road to the junction of industryetlep) 3. Flextronics B industrial plant from the northern parking lot, Posta road — to the administrative border of Zalaegerszeg. In connection with the main activities, the existing bicycle traffic facilities according to point 3.1.2(D)(2) of the call for proposals will be upgraded to Zalaegerszeg Zrínyi Road, from the southern border of the Railway Station — MOL Olajosok út-Zrínyi u. to the intersection of MOL Olajosok út-Zrínyi u.
