Zalaegerszeg Integrated Territorial Program ""Craft Products Piaca": establishment of a place of trade and consumption of local and regional handicraft products in the Market Square" was named in 6.1. Economic development measure, its ideas on the establishment of the Local Producers and Crafts Market. On 6 July 2016, the Municipality submitted an application for funding for the tender scheme TOP-6.1.3-15 local economic development. On 13 December 2016, the Municipality concluded a grant agreement for the implementation of the project TOP-6.1.3-15-ZL1-2016-00001 entitled ‘Development of the local production and crafts market in Zalaegerszeg’. The project will be built on the properties 3607, 3606 and 3609 in Zalaegerszeg Market Square. The properties are owned by the Municipality of Zalaegerszeg, and the ownership relations are orderly. Only a project idea was outlined and presented in the grant application; the technical and professional content is being developed. The producers’ and crafts markets live their Renaissance, and in several places in the country they represent an independent tourist attraction (e.g. Káptalantóti), as an independent tourist event (e.g. Őrség Fair), so we could not ignore the tourism aspects of our planned project when developing the technical content. In addition to the fact that the project provides the infrastructure for local producers and craftsmen to access the market; using the products, knowledge and experience of producers and craftsmen, we would like to develop a so-called Göcsej Knowledge Centre, which offers tourists information on how to produce local products every day of the year, about the open gates presenting traditional peasant farming in Göcsej, providing an opportunity to preserve local traditions and to transfer the “ancient” knowledge. Call TOP-6.1.3-15 helps local producers and craftsmen enter the market, but only supports the marketing of their products. During the development of the project, the Municipality would like to provide in a complex way, in addition to sales, the opportunity to preserve and nurture the local cultural heritage of Göcsej, as well as the use of local production and handicraft products for tourist purposes. In view of the above, Zalaegerszeg Municipality submitted a request for modification of the grant agreement for the project TOP-6.1.3-15-ZL1-2016-00001 on 30 September 2017 for the reduction of technical content, and using the resources released by the reduction of the technical content, it implements the tourist-related parts of the project in the framework of project TOP-6.1.4-16. Despite the two separate funding arrangements, the planned project elements operate in synergy with each other, as one project, and the planned activities (construction, design, marketing, project management, etc.) cannot be separated permanently, so the costs are allocated proportionally. The project development is currently ongoing, we do not yet have a permit plan documentation, we do not have the final list of rooms yet, the exact size of the premises is not yet known. The apportionment was carried out on the basis of preliminary calculations. With our project “Development of the local Producers and Crafts Market in Zalaegerszeg — Göcsej Knowledge Centre” the main goal is to present the local handicrafts in Göcsej, to revitalise and nurture traditions, to exploit the values of the region’s intellectual heritage, to share knowledge and self-development: the processing of local products (cake cooking, mushroom processing, pickling, baking bread, etc.) and the delivery of traditional cooking techniques and recipes (Christmas food, Easter food, burgers, cakes, etc.) In addition, familiarisation of old crafts (pottery, basket weaving, etc.), handicrafts, trainings for the production of fruit and vegetables at home (growing berries, traditional gardens, flowers), for the preparation of the collected home-produced raw materials, culinary courses (child foods from home ingredients, mushroom knowledge, forest knowledge, etc.) and the transfer of herbal skills. Accordingly, our main activity is the development of the Göcsej Knowledge Centre (organisation of cooking courses, gastronomic presentations, development of Göcsej food industry knowledge base, Hunting spot, Gombak-forests demonstration site, Herbs showground, Animal World Showground, pottery, weaving, basket weaving, leathery etc., exhibition space for folk crafts). The general objective of the project is to develop an innovative, unique, regionally competitive, experience-based and sustainable cultural attraction in Zalaegerszeg that meets the needs of quality tourism. The Göcsej Knowledge Centre contributes to increasing the tourist attraction of the city. As a result of the development, tourists can spend a longer time in the city and the region, and their needs and needs indirectly become farmers
