The project constitutes the first phase of the vehicle development planned in the medium term, until 2020, in the tram and trolleybus sub-sector of Budapest, with the aim of achieving the objectives of the BKRFT: — Acquisition of a fleet: 47 new, modern, 100 % low-floor trams, of which 12 are long (approximately 330 seats), 35 normal length and capacity (approximately 200 seats) and 24 new, modern, energy-efficient, low-floor articulated trolleybuses (10 articulated, 14 solos). The vehicles are necessary to meet the objectives of EU-funded infrastructure development projects. Main requirements for new vehicles (in line with the BKRFT): accessibility (100 % low floor), passenger-friendly design, dynamic passenger information, energy efficiency, reliability and safety, and image fit. — Development of three existing electric car parks (Hungaria, Száva, Budafok) in order to create maintenance capacities capable of serving modern low-floor vehicles and the proper operational and maintenance background of the lines to be served by low-floor vehicles. — Ancillary line infrastructure developments on the electricity network to ensure the circulation of new low-floor vehicles (stop improvements). The call for tenders for the purchase of new tram and trolleybuses includes the possibility of purchasing options in addition to the number of vehicles financed from the present source, stage I, as detailed above. Option purchases would not be financed within the framework of the current tender. Option purchases are required for a single vehicle fleet, easier and cheaper to operate. Elements from the IKOP: Transport of 22 trams (12 long, 10 short) and implementation of the infrastructure included in all projects
