The increase in the level of service on the side of the infrastructure, which has already been implemented, as a result of the ongoing and future railway line developments, justifies the development of the vehicle side, which is even more justified by the expected increase in speeds authorised for the railway track (160 km/h). In preparation for the necessary developments on the vehicle side, a feasibility study was carried out on the basis of which, in addition to the existing vehicles providing an adequate service level in the long run, a further 10 min. 200 fixed or foldable seats capacity low-floor electric trains need to be purchased to meet current and future travel needs. The intended transport area of the vehicles is electrified railway lines operated in the public passenger transport service of GYSEV Zrt. Technical requirements for the intended vehicles: Passenger traffic, comfort requirements: • Capacity of at least 200 seats (fixed or folding seats); • Class 2 passenger compartment, shorter distance design suitable for regional travel; • Low-floor design, Sk+ 600 mm floor height on boarding areas (a higher floor height in some parts of the vehicle is allowed); • At least 6 double-wing access doors per vehicle side (steps moving out of low and lower than sk+ 55 cm); • Comfortable seats (for suburban traffic); • An aesthetic and state-of-the-art passenger compartment that can be easily cleaned; • Accessible toilets, toilets; • Passenger compartments (climate, heating) at appropriate temperatures under all weather conditions; • Noise-attenuated passenger compartment; • Real-time (voice and visual) passenger information; • On-board free wireless internet connection; • Suitable space for wheelchair passengers, easy and quick boarding equipment (wheelchair lifts suitable for both low and raised platforms). • Provision of bicycle transport; • 230 V network connectors for charging passengers’ electronic devices; • Possibility to buy on-board tickets. Vehicle needs: • Train arrangement, two cab designs (at both ends of the vehicle); • Electrical operation at 25 kV, 50 Hz; • 160 km/h authorised speed; • At least 2 000 kW constant power, drive distributed on the bogies of the vehicle, • High acceleration capacity (minimum 1 m/s2) • Favorable energy regenerating properties; • Train control equipment of the type EVM, ETCS and Indusi; • Advanced mechanical systems (IGBT control, AC asynchronous traction motors); • Ergonomic, air-conditioned and noise-absorbed driver space; • Closed toilet; • Wide-ranging technical state diagnostic systems; • Two-way operation without breaking the train; • The possibility of remote control of up to 3 engine units, central buffer and draw gear with the possibility of fast unbundling and coupling. • Cooperation with GYSEV Zrt. With 10 electric trains purchased from KÖZOP funding, in which it is possible to fully attach the vehicles and, if possible, to co-operate them; The trains will run on the electrified railway lines by GYSEV Zrt.: railway lines 8, 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 1 and 25. EU-funded infrastructure developments for the above railway lines: Railway No 8: In the framework of the project KÖZOP-2.5.0-09-11-2013-0006, passenger information displays and a new traffic management system have been developed in the KÖZOP-2.5.0-09-11-2011-0005 project by GYSEV.
