Infrastructure and rolling stock maintenance software and IT application consolidation

Subject of the project: The whole group of companies is an infrastructure maintenance and management system. At present, the passenger transport segment is served by a highly heterogeneous, insular IT environment. In many cases, the IT support of business processes generates multiple data entry and data maintenance tasks, which entail extraordinary resource requirements and a number of faults. (E.g. station and scheduling data may be presented differently in several IT systems, amended in parallel). The system to be developed will make the data communication between PASS2, FOR, RES, etc. used by rail infrastructure maintenance and passenger transport activities transparent. Extending and expanding the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) “basic package” for all IT applications can fundamentally change the IT portfolio, as it can remove the limitations of IT infrastructure and isolated databases and create flexible interconnected business processes that manage information stored in different business systems in an integrated way. The introduction of SOA, MDM and ESB should be preceded by the development of a core database (CMDB) and consolidation, revision and elimination of duplication of existing applications (currently around 160). Within the current application portfolio, applications are connected and communicated between applications on developed interfaces. This should be replaced by communication via the standard ESB bus, these interfaces need to be standardised. Computer data processing will be based on the use of high-level, structured, functionally pre-designed core data files in all relevant business processes and IT applications. It creates a fast, efficient decision-making situation. The main applications involved in the consolidation are: GIR (Economic Management System),IHIR (Integrated Human System),Local Transmitter, Material Tool Control, Verda (Car Accounts), MVER,VEGA (Material Tool, Workwear Analytics), Kutinfo (Analytics of Oil Wells), Material Control, Main Book Requester, Basware (Integrated Invoice, Ordering System), SZFVR, IKSZR (Integrated Utilities Account Management System), Rent, TEA, vezinfo, Cognos Oracle Applications, MFG PRO, SZVÖRNET, Páter
