“There is a way out!” — Elimination of segregated living situations in the municipality of Hidasnémet (ERFA)

Hidasnémeti is a settlement of 1124 people (TEIR 2015), situated on the northern border of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, 4 km from the Hungarian-Slovak border, 60 km from Miskolc, in the district of Gönci, in the region of Abaúj, which is one of the most disadvantaged small regions of the country. Hidasnémeti in 105/2015. (IV.23) According to Government Decree (IV.23) it is considered a beneficiary municipality, with very limited job opportunities available locally or at micro-regional level. The resulting unemployment, lack of professional training and the problem of low living standards make the situation of people living here more difficult. The settlements in the area are mostly small-walled, which brings with it the problems of small villages: low quality of public services, almost complete lack of economic functions, continuous exodus and population decline. The area’s health and other social services are underavailable. Hidasnémet’s housing stock is 446 properties, of which 24 are located on the site bounded by the Perényi út — Bartók Béla út — Pesti út — railway line. 69.6 % of these real estates account for 56.5 % of households without comfort or half-comfort, without employment. The planned project is EFOP-1.6.2. Eliminating segregated life situations with complex programs (ESF) complements the interventions of the construction of housing by supporting investments in housing and providing a Star service house and Star service point. In order to start the desegregation process in Hidasnémet, 3 new rental apartments would be built outside the segregation, and in the area of segregation we plan to renovate and rent 2 apartments. Most of the plots/property are still municipal property and three must be purchased from private individuals. In order to improve environmental infrastructure and facilitate access to services, we plan the following improvements/constructions: Star point within the segregation (with the renovation of the existing house, it would be taken from a private person, the intention to purchase was indicated), the establishment of a service house (community space) in the existing cultural house outside the segregation.
