The project “Building new social housing in the town of Smolyan” aims to provide modern housing for vulnerable population groups and other disadvantaged groups. Building this type of housing will ensure spatial integration of representatives of marginalised communities in general and help address their segregation, isolation and exclusion. It is planned to build a 5-storey residential building, comprising 35 social housing units, with the following distribution: • Type 1 — one-bedroom apartment — 11; • Type 2 residence — 6-bedrooms; • Type 3 residence — 11-bedrooms; • Type 4 residence — four rooms; • Residential for people with disabilities — 3 units. The chosen place for construction of social housing is in one of the most lively residential complexes in the area with a predominant social character of the city and with access to educational and social infrastructure (school, kindergarten, hospital, social services, etc.). The newly built building will be supplied with drinking water from the water supply network of the town of Smolyan, channelled and powered according to investment projects, measures are also foreseen to provide accessible architectural environment for people with motor problems or other disabilities — providing approaches, ramps, etc., and three of the dwellings are specially designed for people with disabilities. The building will be in harmonious unity with the environment, and will also be built a place for recreation and playground. There is also a system for BGW/household hot water supply/with coil boiler using solar energy (solar collectors), as well as video surveillance. Each apartment will be furnished and equipped to provide basic living conditions for those accommodated in social housing.
