The project “Development of an integrated system of urban transport in Dobrich” was prepared in accordance with the requirements of OP “Regions in Growth” 2014-2020, investment priority 2 “Integrated urban transport”. The project is based on a detailed feasibility study for the entire urban transport system and falls within one of the priority areas of impact and interlinked initiatives to achieve the strategic objectives of the Dobrich IHLG as a set of integrated actions, including: 1. An intelligent transport system (ITS) regulating traffic lights at junctions and a control system for public urban transport (PSTS), including a bus positioning system and electronic information boards at stops to display real-time vehicle arrival information; 2. Modernising the urban transport system by purchasing new rolling stock that is in line with European environmental policy — 4 electric buses, charging stations and transformer. 3. Renovation of the transport infrastructure by repairing and refurbishment of 30 stops, as a matter of priority at the stops at Dobrichka Epopea Blvd., the busy stops on the lines served by the Electric Buses and the bus stops in the central urban area; 4. Reconstruction of Dobrichka Epopea Blvd. as one of the main arteries of the integrated public urban transport system; 5. Upgrade of the Cycling Movement Scheme in Dobrich by building new cycle paths along Dobrichka Epopea Blvd. as part of the integrated urban transport system. All planned activities and selected sites are interconnected and aim at lasting improvement of the economic, social and environmental status of the town of Dobrich. The individual components are chosen so that the overall impact of the project proposal exceeds the sum of the effects of its individual components, if implemented separately.
