The implementation of the project proposal will contribute to the improvement of ambient air quality in the municipality of Varna by reducing the excess levels of PM and nitrogen oxides to reach the established standards in ambient air by taking measures to replace old public urban transport vehicles with modern, environmentally friendly means of transport. The project includes delivery of 40 electric solo buses, 20 electric buses type “articulated” and delivery and installation of 60 slow charging stations and 2 fast charging stations. The project includes the following main activities in order to ensure normal operation of the vehicles and sustainability of the project:- Design, execution of construction works and designer supervision necessary for supplying charging stations in bus depots and fast charging points for electric buses;- Construction supervision and assessment of the conformity of the planned design and construction works necessary for supplying charging stations in bus depots and fast charging points for electric buses;- Optimising the operation of newly acquired vehicles;- Project management, provision of information and communication and development of documentation for public procurement. The project proposal covers the implementation of Component 1 activities for the purchase of electric vehicles by road transport. The project will be implemented on the territory of the municipality of Varna and the purchased electric buses will be operated by “Gradesski TRANSPORT” EAD and will serve lines according to the approved transport scheme of the city. Within the envisaged scope, this project will contribute to the achievement of the Specific objective “Reducing ambient air pollution by reducing PM10/NOx quantities” under Priority Axis 5 of OPE 2014-2020.
