This project proposal "Construction of a part of the central area and Acad Square. Nikolay Haytov“in the town of Asenovgrad — Stage I” is aimed at improving the urban environment in the town of Asenovgrad and in particular the development of the central area of the city. The project aims, on the one hand, to give an identical, uniform and memorable look, while also offering a solution for strengthening the construction of the square space. The investment project covers part of the square space and fully level II and III of the Academic Nikolay Haitov Square. It provides for disassembly of existing floorings in the scope of the two levels and existing stairs and installation of new pavements. Building a permanent open stage that can be used for organised events, performances, informal events, public appearances. Construction of rock gardens and amphitheatral recreation area. It is also envisaged to “lift” level II by laying a new reinforced concrete plate. There is also planned complete drainage, new street and square lighting, including lighting of the surrounding public buildings — City Library, Municipal Administration and Regional University of the Ministry of Interior, construction of a video surveillance system, complete landscaping of the newly formed green areas, construction of irrigation system, construction of facilities ensuring accessibility for people with disabilities. The project proposal is part of the Investment Programme of Asenovgrad Municipality for implementation of the Integrated Plan for Urban Reconstruction and Development of the town of Asenovgrad (IPHLG) for the period 2014-2020. The planned interventions are concentrated in the area of public functions of high public importance as defined in the plan. In addition to the construction and installation works, project management activities, author’s and construction supervision, information and communication, as well as independent audit of the project are set out in the project.
